Sacred Heart Women’s Soccer Drops NEC Opener At Bryant 1-0

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Sacred Heart women’s soccer team dropped its Northeast Conference opener 1-0 to the Bryant Bulldogs Friday afternoon at Bulldog Soccer Field.

Sacred Heart (3-7-0, 0-1-0 NEC) outshot Bryant (2-8-1, 1-0-0 NEC) 23-9 for the game, but the Bulldogs scored the game’s lone goal in the 89th minute. Bryant’s Scout Benson made a run up the right side of the field and finished it off with her first goal of the season on the Bulldogs only shot on goal of the game. The Pioneers had seven shots on goal, but Kaylan Conrad kept them all out of the net. Marissa Christy had six shots in the game for Sacred Heart, two of which were on goal. Alexis Parlato also had two shots on goal.

Sacred Heart returns to Campus Field on Sunday, October 4th for a 1 p.m. game against Fairleigh Dickinson.


– SHU had two shots in the first eight minutes.

– Bryant’s first shot came in the 13th minute when Haley Reddish put it wide of goal.

Kim McNally had a shot blocked off a corner kick in the 20th minute, which was followed up by a Marissa Christy attempt that was saved by Bryant goalkeeper Kaylan Conrad.

– Conrad also made saves on shots by Corallo in the 22nd minute and Alexis Parlato in the 24th minute.

– The Pioneers outshot the Bulldogs 14-2, putting four shots on goal in the first half.


– Parlato had a shot saved in the 52nd minute.

Melanie DaSilva put a header wide off of a corner kick in the 55th minute.

– Bryant’s Shea Williams and Hannah Crofut had shots go wide of goal in the 76th and 81st minutes respectively.

– Christy and DaSilva both had shots stopped in the final three minutes.
