With 6-1 wins on courts two and three against Maryland, Ohio State picked up the doubles point for the 13th match in a row and the 17th match this season. The 54th-ranked doubles team of freshman Francesca Di Lorenzo and sophomore Olivia Sneed won on court two over Cassandre Thebault and Alexandra Stanova to improve to 18-1 this spring. The duo of juniors Sandy Niehaus and Gabriella De Santis downed Caroline Williams and Nataliya Bredikhina on court three. The match on court one was abandoned with the Buckeyes’ second-ranked duo of Anna Sanford and Miho Kowase leading 5-2.

Ohio State won five singles matches in straight sets for the B1G victory. Power issues at the facility made just three courts available at a time. Singles opened with play on courts 1, 2 and 6, followed by courts 3, 4 and 5.

On court one, No. 3-ranked Di Lorenzo won 6-2, 6-3 over Stanova. No. 99 Sanford was a 7-6 (3), 6-2 winner against Sullivan and Sneed, ranked No. 114, topped Olga Bredikhina, 6-3, 6-2.

Kowase picked up her 11th win in a row, downing N. Bredikhina at No. 3, 6-3, 6-3. Niehaus, ranked 58th, downed Thebault, winning the first set in a tiebreak before cruising in set two, 7-6 (5), 6-1.

The match on court four between De Santis and Tour was suspended because of time constraints. The Buckeye was ahead 5-4 in the second set after losing the first, 6-1.

Di Lorenzo leads the Buckeyes with 25 overall wins this season and has 16 dual match wins to share the lead with Sneed and junior Ferny Angeles Paz. Kowase is now 15-1 this spring.
