MIAMI, FL. (December 19, 2016) – Tulsa quarterback Dane Evans threw for a bowl-record five touchdowns to earn the Most Valuable Player Award in the Golden Hurricane’s 55-10 victory over Central Michigan at the third Miami Beach Bowl on Monday at Marlins Park.

Evans completed 28-of-38 passes and threw for 304 yards as Tulsa finished with a 10-win season (10-3). He set the school-record for career touchdown passes with 84. Three of his touchdown passes on Monday went to Keevan Lucas, who tied the school-record for career touchdown receptions with 32.

In addition, Tulsa receiver Josh Atkinson grabbed a bowl-record 12 passes for 131 yards, surpassing the 1,000-yard mark for the season and making Tulsa the first team in NCAA FBS history to finish a season with a 3,000-yard passer, two 1,000-yard rushers and two 1,000-yard receivers.

The Chippewas (6-7) were limited to one field goal until the fourth quarter.
