Mavericks defeat the Lakers, and other random things
October 31, 2009, 8:41amI have had a rocky relationship with my fellow Dallas team, the Mavericks. They can make me so happy, yet crush my hopes at times (can we say the postseason trouble anyone?). I was bummed when they traded away the young D. Harris (one of my favorite players) and we got an (aging) vet in J. Kidd. I have nothing against Kidd; he is a great player. I think I just liked him better when he wasn't on my team. It took me some time, but I am adjusting to him playing for the team.
What I was most excited about was the signing of S. Marion. I admired his talent when he was playing for the Suns and with Cuban bringing him here, a smile crept on my face. Add the young breakout player, J.J., the usual Dirk, (the hurt) J. Howard, and some others I can't think of right now, and this season looks promising. Even though I'm still wondering why Dampier is still a Maverick...?
I wasn't able to sit down and watch all 13 NBA games tonight like I planned, but at least I got to see the Mavericks. They played very well, but I can't say consistently. They had their moments where they could not score a basket if Cuban paid for it. The Lakers went on a short run, and had me a little worried, no lie. I feel the Lakers were not on their A-game tonight and the Mavs took advantage.
So, 1-1 isn't too bad. Hopefully they can have a strong season with an even stronger postseason, leading to a coveted shiny trophy.
In other news... The Yankees are now tied with the Phillies, 1-1. I was bummed when they lost game one and relieved when they took the second game. I hope they are strong in game three (and eventually winning it all of course). The WNBA's Shock relocated to my home state of Oklahoma (in Tulsa). Shaq in Cleveland makes me chuckle a little. Is the big man doomed to team-hop until he retires? Blake Griffin is out already and Sam Bradford's surgery went well and he's declaring for the Draft, supposedly.
The Mavericks look good and other random news.
Fever's up two games; can they win it all in the next?
Weather delays plague the US Open.
Yankees win, Oudin loses, and Federer is a beast.
Due to various reasons, I took a short sports hiatus, but now I'm back!
I watched the Red Sox, Rangers, and the Yankees play tonight and all won. I think that means something lucky and a lottery ticket should be bought. Well maybe not...
Hi there sports world. This is yet another sports website for me to spend countless hours reading, debating, and just plain wandering around. I guess since this is sort of like an introduction, I'll introduce myself.
