DETROIT – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) will host its 2010 Football Media Day on Friday, July 30, from 8 a.m. to Noon, from Ford Field in Detroit. The MAC Football Media Day kicks off the season, which officially begins on Thursday, Sept. 2, and will conclude with the 2010 Marathon MAC Football Championship on Friday, Dec. 3 from Ford Field.

Grothe Inks Deal with the Florida Tuskers

TAMPA -- Matt Grothe, one of the top quarterbacks in Big East Conference history, has signed with the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League. Grothe completed 717 of 1048 passes (68.4%) for 8,669 yards and 49 touchdowns in his career with the USF Bulls. His collegiate career was cut short when he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the third game of his senior season in 2009.

Ball State Hires Shula for Football Staff

BIG EAST Completes Bowl Lineup

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The BIG EAST Conference has completed its bowl lineup by renewing deals with the Papajohns.com Bowl in Birmingham, Ala., and the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl in St. Petersburg , Fla. The conference has also signed a new agreement with the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn. BIG EAST Commissioner John Marinatto announced the changes.

USF Football Dismisses Running Back Mike Ford

TAMPA - The USF football program dismissed senior running back Mike Ford for violation of team rules on Wednesday afternoon. Ford rushed for 1,502 yards and 23 touchdowns during his three seasons with the USF football program. The Sarasota native was named the MVP of the 2010 International Bowl after rushing for 207 yards and one touchdown.
